Marcela Vasconcelos

Originally from Brazil, Marcela started playing volleyball when she was 10. She played in many national tournaments in Brazil and moved to the US on a volleyball scholarship at Palm Beach State College, where she was the starting setter both years and was part of the team who was the FCSAA Southern Conference Champions for the first time in history. Her sophomore year she was the team captain and awarded athlete of the year. After transferring to Florida Tech in Melbourne on a volleyball scholarship as well and was also the starting setter while I got her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After graduating, she worked as a financial analyst for a year while coaching the JV volleyball team at Heritage High School. In 2010, she moved back to Brazil, and a few years later, was offered a scholarship to be a graduate assistant coach at a Division 2 University in Arkansas (Southern Arkansas University). After receiving her MBA, she moved back to Melbourne, and was a volunteer assistant coach for a season at Florida Tech while working primarily at an insurance firm, and playing beach volleyball in her free time. Marcela started coaching at Beach Wave during last year’s grass league and coached the 14s and 16s for mini club. This is her first season coaching regular club season and believes coaching the 12s team is a great challenge and so rewarding, as they grasp the fundamentals of the game while having a lot of fun!
